My most treasured moments are with my mom in the kitchen. More than passing down the family secret to the most amazing sausage bread ever, my mom taught me that food is a celebration of love, family and tradition.
In the summer of 2020, I was diagnosed with cancer. Thanks to prayer, the highest quality of care at Sunnybrook Hospital and a change to holistic nutrition, I beat it! As I was going through chemo, I worked with a naturopathic doctor to clean up my diet. That’s when my spark of an idea was ignited. I spent hours in the kitchen, taking the food I love and making it more nourishing for the body and soul. Eating healthy had such an impact on my well-being that I knew it was time to share my food with the world. That’s how Menus by Maria came to life.
Would my mom have something to say about whole grain flour in sausage bread? Most likely! But I know that she would be proud because I am sharing our love of food with you.
